Make This Puppy Lucky: Bud the Shepherd and Labrador Mix

Bud loves equally playing and chilling. Does he sound like your kind of dog?

Looking for an easy-going companion who is just as happy lounging on the couch as he is hanging out at the dog park? Meet Bud! This sweet, fun-loving fellow is looking for a doting family who will help him build his confidence and bring out his best. Could you be the right fit for this mellow-yellow boy?

Name: Bud (aka Bear).

Age and sex: 6-year-old male.

Breed: Shepherd and Labrador mix.

Size and weight: Medium and 40 pounds.

Coat: Medium and fawn.

Location: PAWS New England in Rhode Island.

Activity level: Low.

Likes: Swimming in the local pond, prancing around the dog park, snuggling with his people, getting belly rubs from everyone he meets, going for walks, lounging around the house, and hanging out in the yard.

Dislikes: Other dogs around him when he’s eating.

Training: Bud is house and crate trained, knows basic commands, and walks well on a leash.

Yard requirements: Although a fenced-in yard is not essential, Bud would love his own outdoor space in which he could roam freely.

Kids: Bud likes kids of all ages!

Dogs and cats: Bud enjoys the company of other dogs but has never been tested with cats.

Health issues: None.

His story: Bud was saved by Paws New England in 2010 from an overcrowded shelter in Tennessee just before he was scheduled to be euthanized. He was adopted by a family who loves him, but due to his resource-guarding behavior around the other dog in the home, Bud is back with Paws New England until he finds an adopter who can provide him with a more structured environment.

His ideal forever home: Bud would do best with a calm family that will take him on trips to the dog park, cuddle with him, and continue working with him on his manners. He would be perfectly happy as an only dog or with a low-key canine sibling.
