If your home decor leans more toward modern, you probably don’t want cat furniture with the subtlety and style of a ’70s rec room. That’s why the designers at Meyou Paris took to Kickstarter. The company’s now fully funded campaign offers sleek yet comfortable pieces for cat lovers who just don’t do carpet and sisal.

The French company has three stylish cat hideouts: the Cube, the Ball, and the Bed. Both the Cube (above at left) and the Ball (right) use a woven cotton sphere as a scratchable (and easily replaceable) kitty den. The Bed (center) gives cats an elevated napping space on a contemporary beechwood tabletop, and it has a wool-felt shelter. Pre-order prices range from around $136 to $327 (at current conversion rates), plus shipping outside of France.

The great design and materials used by Meyou set these cat condos apart from their mass-market counterparts, and so does the manufacturing method. Meyou has partnered with a Parisian organization for people with disabilities to offer them employment and independence.
