Make This Puppy Lucky: Achilles the Pit Bull Mix

This sweet Pittie loves to play, but he’s also more than happy to just hang out. Would he fit into your lifestyle?

Don’t let this linebacker of a pup fool you — Achilles is just a big sweetie in a muscular package, and he loves people, playing, and hanging out. If your idea of a perfect evening is staying in and watching a movie, then have we found the perfect couch buddy for you!

Name: Achilles.

Age and sex: 5-year-old male.

Breed: Pit Bull mix.

Size and weight: Extra-large and 85 pounds.

Coat: Short, black and white.

Location: Detroit Dog Rescue.

Activity level: Medium.

Likes: Lying in the sun and relaxing.

Dislikes: Being in a kennel.

Training: Achilles knows some basic commands, but could use a little help with leash manners. He would love to take obedience classes with his new family to help him bond with them and learn some new skills!

Yard requirements: A fenced-in yard is not mandatory for Achilles as long as he can get regular exercise, including long walks.

Kids: Achilles is great with children, but because of his size would do best with kids 7 years and older.

Dogs and cats: Does well with most dogs of his same energy level. He’s never been around cats but may be too curious for them.

Health issues: None.

His story: Achilles was surrendered by his family after they fell on hard times and were no longer able to take care of him.

His ideal forever home: Achilles would do best in an active home with a patient person, couple, or family who will work with him on his training and provide him with plenty of love, attention, and exercise.

Other details prospective adopters should know: When Achilles came to Detroit Dog Rescue, he was very thin. He is expected to reach 100 pounds once he puts on all the weight he needs to gain.
