Make This Puppy Lucky: Dover the Pit Bull Mix

This 4-month-old puppy has so much love to give. All he wants in return is the right person to meet his special needs.

Dover is a silly and exuberant special-needs puppy who has never met a human he didn’t love. Sweet and snuggly and incredibly handsome, this sweet boy has everything it takes to be an incredible canine companion for some lucky person or family!

Name: Dover.

Age and sex: 4-month-old male.

Breed: Pit Bull mix.

Size and weight: Small (for now) and 30 pounds.

Coat: Short, blue and brindle.

Location: Do Over Dogs.

Activity Level: Medium.

Likes: People, snuggling, getting petted, treats, and being told he’s a good boy.

Dislikes: Being left alone.

Training: Dover understands sit with the use of hand signals (and treats!) and is on his way to being fully housetrained.

Yard requirements: A fenced yard is not necessary as long as Dover gets daily walks and plenty of playtime to burn off his puppy energy.

Kids: Great with children.

Dogs and cats: Good with both.

Health issues: Due to suspected abuse at his former home, Dover displays minor vision and hearing impairment, as well as compulsive spinning behavior, which is easily stopped by getting his attention with treats.

His story: Dover was surrendered to a high-kill shelter in Amarillo, Texas, before being rescued by Do Over Dogs.

His ideal forever home: Dover will thrive with a patient, loving person or couple who work from home or are retired. He would do best in a home willing to work with his issues and focus on his training.

Other details prospective adopters should know: Dover’s spinning will need continued oversight and possible veterinary care. Like most vision and hearing-impaired animals, his sense of smell is spectacular!
