Pretty Litter Will Monitor Your Cat’s Health

This new litter detects blood, acidity, and more, giving you a heads-up on certain health issues.

As much as you love your cat, you probably never thought “pretty” and “litter” should belong in the same sentence, right? Well, a new health-monitoring product for cats called Pretty Litter is changing the game when nature calls for your pet.

Its idea is simple: The litter changes color if your cat isn’t well. So you get an early warning — even before symptoms start presenting themselves — if there’s blood, acidity, alkalinity, or abnormal bilirubin that shouldn’t be there. This means detecting some of the most frequent and serious feline illnesses, from urinary tract disorders to liver and kidney problems.

Aside from being a practical and helpful wellness monitor, the litter is eco-friendly, biodegradable, dust-free, scent-free, lightweight, and feline-safe. If your pet licks his paws and accidentally swallows some of the silica micro-granules, it’ll pass through his system without any issues. And you’ll use far less of it compared to clumping varieties — about 3 pounds instead of a hefty 20 per month. What’s more, the company donates bags to shelters and rescues from Hawaii to Maine.

Just a few things to think about if you’re still scooping clumps on the regular, or left wondering about your cat’s state of health. There’s really no need for you to do either anymore.
